Destination 1- Speyer –Germany
Speyer , a city in Germany's Rhineland-Palatinate state with approx. 50000 inhabitants, located beside the river Rhine. Speyer makes a fine stop over for those headed south from the airport in Frankfurt. Der Kaiserdom, Speyer's cathedral, founded by Conrad II in 1030 and remodeled at the end of the 11th century is a beautiful monument.
Going to these not so famous towns always appeals my senses and also that these places are calm and quiet. That is exactly what a vacation must give u . right??
Destination 2- Mt. Rigi- Switzerland
Rigi is high above Lake Lucerne…. Well I am sure you must be knowing that. anyways…. Mt. Rigi railway starts in the town of Vitznau. the most wonderful thing bout this place is the exotic sunset which brings that extra zippy feeling… and as I watch day turning into night. it's always tempting to add day trips to your vacation rather than staying overnight. But I've often felt that day-trippers miss out on the essence of a place which a tent and a little bonfire can give u.
Destination 3 - Evora- Portugal
Evora, Portugal is the provincial capital of the northern Alentejo region. Located about 150 km east of Lisbon, Evora has the second oldest University in Portugal founded in 1551. since Portugal is less expensive than other countries in western Europe I went on a spending spree here. Taking the horse carriage and riding like a king belonging to the 12th century…. Maybe I was a king in some other lifetime…. As least I felt like one at that moment.
Destination 4 - Valcamonica- italy.
I bet not many of u heard this one ….just north of Lago Iseo, in Italy's Lombardy region lies the beautiful little valley called the Valcamonica. It was indeed the first Italian World Heritage site, designated in 1979 for featuring "more than 140,000 symbols and figures carved in the rock over a period of 8,000 years depicting various themes.
What we have here is a compact little valley with great natural beauty, 8,000 years of history, lots of Alpine hiking trails, inexpensive lodging near Italy's vaunted northern lakes. Fabulous surroundings and that ooooohhhhhhhh feeling. Well that’s about it…more to come later – the little scenic towns of Europe.
