Nowadays there is an increasing awareness about everything that is more natural and to that effect, less cosmetic. With everyone becoming more health conscious and concerned about what they consume and what they buy, even makeup manufacturers have been forced to bring about changes in their products.
Having thus come under scrutiny and with consumers on a caution trip, some manufacturers have tried going natural. After all, the consumer’s eagerness to avoid products that can have damaging effects on their skin and on their health in general cannot be overlooked. And that is how one began hearing about mineral makeup; a relatively natural way of coloring up your face, and far away from chemical-based makeup.
The interesting thing about mineral makeup, which contains natural ingredients is that it is made of minerals extracted from the earth, such as titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and iron oxides. It has no preservatives. The plus point of this kind of makeup is that these minerals are inorganic, and that bacteria cannot survive in them and therefore, cannot be absorbed by the skin.
In some cases, the minerals in the product are pulverized and then sterilized to create a product that is pure, almost weightless and non-cosmetic. Besides, mineral makeup has a natural Sun Protection Factor (SPF) built into it. So, the more you use it, the more you protect your skin from the sun’s damaging rays.
This natural SPF comes from the minerals, which create a sun block. Moreover, minerals have anti-inflammatory properties and can therefore, curb swelling, and promote healing, instead. A word of caution despite all this - if you are allergic to the minerals in this sort of makeup, try a different brand and see if that works for you!
