Nintendo's Wii is a low priced innovative gaming console. If you are as lucky as I am to be able to buy one, I am sure we will instantly fall in love with this cute machine

The first game console I ever owned was Nintendo 64. I loved it because of its games. They were cute games like Mario/Wario/Donkey Kong and likes, something I would like my kids to play. Luckily my kids didn't want to have lethal mass murder weapons unleashed in a marketplace.
I was lucky to get a Wii console last week and have spent countless hours playing the bundled sports games with my kids, downloading older games and even surfing internet on it. I have fallen in love with the cute white box from Nintendo all over again. I thought I will share some of my thoughts on this box rightaway.
Why you should buy this:
1. It's cheaper - at $250, it is the cheapest console in the market.
2. New concept - The motion tracking wireless controller is as innovative to gaming as Mars Rover landing.
3. Added benefit of the above, this gets me up from the couch and play a game like it is supposed to be played. It gets me active.
4. Wifi access - allows the console to be hooked up to internet. Browser is downloadable.
Why it could be annoying to some peple:
1. VC games are tied to the console - so if you downloaded a game from its shopping channel, it can only be played on the same console. You can't just take it to your friends house.
2. Although I absolutely loved the Wifi access, it demands that you have a wireless router in your home. Some people living in the past don't have one.
3. No online games - Although the setup is great, no games I have come across that takes advantage of internet connectivity yet.
4. 20 hours battery life - You have to stack up on the alkaline batteries cause the controller will die in about 20 hours. No rechargeable dock
5. No component cables - you video quality may suffer because the only bundled cable is RCA.
6. Weak wrist wrap - Considering all the warnings in the user manual and the constant in-game reminders to only use the Wii-mote with the strap lest you accidentally destroy everyone and everything you ever loved, you'd think they'd have made one that wouldn't break if you stare at it too hard.
7. Short sensor bar cord - if you have a giant project screen and you want to keep your Wii box on a side, it might be a struggle.
Although currently Wii might be just good fun to play with the new innovative controller, I think it has huge potential specially in internet connectivity space. I see Sims Online, Second life and ultima online coming to Wii very soon.
