So whats ahead? The Indian board has called for a review of the World Cup performance on April 6th and 7th, ostensibly to decide the course for the future. We will have to see if the board learns from its mistakes and from the success of the other teams in the competition.

    In fact, the Indian Cricket Board should define a set of objective guidelines for the selection committee to adhere to. Age, athletic ability, physique, technique and mental toughness should all be criteria for selection.

    One-day cricket (and soon 20/20 cricket) has become a "5S" sport (strength, speed, stamina, skill and strategy). The sooner the Indian Board realizes the fundamental changes creeping into the sport, the better it is for Indian cricket.
