A comparative analysis of nutritional value of whole grains and refined grains ("refined grains" are processed whole grains with bran and endosperm removed). The data for this analysis is obtained from the USDA National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference.

Clearly, grains loose a lot of nutritional value in refinment.
