Digital publishing services like editorial and composition services have succeeded in surpassing the print media in terms of speed, productivity, and quality. In short, digitization has made life easy and smooth but if proper attention isn’t given to preserving the digital data then the boon can become a bane in a split of a second. Compared to printed materials, digital materials have a shorter life span and this intensifies the need of digital archiving. In order to prevent it from becoming corrupted and unusable the constructive steps for archiving should start at the time of creation of the object. Similarly, careful attention must be given to issues of consistency, format, standardization, and metadata description in the very beginning of the creation of the object itself. Since most companies offer digital archiving as part of their digital publishing solutions, preservation of digital data isn’t a great problem.
