Ingredients
- 6 cups thin-sliced, cored, peeled apples (about 5 large)
- 1/4 cup apple juice concentrate
- 1 tablespoon Sucralose (marketed with the Splenda brand name)
- 2 tablespoons quick cooking tapioca
- ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- A pinch of salt
- Optional: ¼ cup chopped walnuts
- A teaspoon of milk
- ¼ teaspoon of sugar
- 2 unbaked pie-crust shells
Directions
- Set the first pie-crust shell into a 9-inch pie pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the first seven (optionally eight) ingredients and let stand for 15 minutes.
- Pour apple mixture into the pie crust.
- Cover with the second unbaked pie-crust shell
- Brush the top with milk and sprinkle the sugar on top
- Bake in a preheated 350 degrees Fahrenheit oven for about 50-60 minutes or until apples are tender.
- Chill the pie before serving. You may also serve the pie warm.
