One of the most important phases in testing services is test documentation. Test documentation comprises of test plan, test design specs, test case specs, test procedure specs, test transition report, test log, test incident report and test summary report. All these test documents have to be prepared for each phase in the testing cycle.

Traditional test management systems did not provide automated generation of test documentation. After the advent of sophisticated test life cycle management tools, documentation process has been made easier and effortless. Team leads benefit from automated reports because it enables them to allocate resources for testing in a timely manner. Dashboards and metrics generation are other important benefits of using automated test tools.
