With the news of Sony PS3 being sold at ebay for ~11k, people fisting each other to get 1 of the 12 Wiis handed out to retailers every week, and Microsoft dealing with complains of fried XBox 360 consoles - I had myself on crossroads. Some of my friends asking me to wait for HD-DVD and 1080p next-gen xbox, and some asking me to get in line for a PS3.
I chose to buy an XBox 360, as I had friends at work who either owned, or played the console. It may not have a big hard drive, but 20 GB seems enough to save games (atleast the kind I want to play) and to download demos of games I'd buy someday.
The day I got the console, I hooked it up with the internet via a cable (I decided not to buy the $100 wireless adapter) and downloaded a bunch of demos. The download speed was pretty slow, but it worked. Next day I played the demo versions of LOTR2, COD2, and some arcade games (Zuma, Feeding Frenzy). I was so hooked to Zuma that I bought the game the very next day, as I wanted to get to the locked levels. It could be played for days and days now, with the large variety of settings and configurations.
Overall, a good deal and a great way to spend a couple hours over a weekend. Hopefully it will not turn out to be an addiction - I have quite a few already and having a tough time getting rid of 'em.

I feel the 360 is overrated. The only reason people buy it is for the debut of HALO 3. The ultimate 1st person shooting game. Take it from an avid gamer by the name of Shankar Bettadapura and he will tell you that a handheld system...PSP is a lot better. It has multiple features such as: 1) listen to music 2) watch dvd quality movies, and movies (downloaded) 3) the ability to play high quality games 4) the ability to watch tv through the "location-free player" system... 5) the ability to connect to the internet without using any CASH!!! (wi-fi) 6) the ability to be in and cool... 7) the ability to play with Shankar on the PSP when he comes to the U.S.
