PLOT: Dr. Prakash Kulkarni (Ramesh Deo) is a skilled doctor working to assist the poor and needy, however, there is a weakness in him, which is to over-charge his more wealthy clients, even encourage and magnify minor aches and pains, much to the dislike of his more enthical colleague Dr. Bhaskar Bannerjee (Amitabh Bachchan). It is because of his "charitable disposition" that both get to meet their new, terminally ill patient, Anand Saigal (Rajesh Khanna), who is aware that he has only a short time to live, but even during this short period he will manage to bring about positive change in the lives of both the doctors as well as the people around him.

PLOT: The lives of Atmaram (Nazir Hussain) and his wife (Dulari) are turned upside down when they see their daughter, Mala's (Aruna Irani) pictures in a magazine. They arrange for Mala's marriage with the son of Ramlal (Agha). Mala is opposed to marrying anyone who she has not met, and is at the same time thrilled that the two persons she trusted, one Sharma (Shatrughan Sinha), and the other Verma (Manmohan) had actually submitted her pictures to a magazine, and were now willing to sign her up for a Bollywood movie. Mala is not able to understand her parents' opposition on her way to fame, and runs away from home with a lot of money and hands this money to Sharma and Verma. Greed overtakes Sharma and Verma, leading to the death of Verma. Mala, who witnessed Sharma kill Verma, now is on the run for her life. She boards a bus from Bombay which bound for Goa. Sharma soon overtakes her, and has one of his armed men on the bus to kill her. And then arrives Mala's admirer Ravikumar (Amitabh Bachchan), who not only protects Mala, but also accompanies her throughout the journey. Mala starts to trust and subsequently fall in love with Ravikumar. The bus journey is adventurous with the passengers, a totally mixed bunch, from all over India, different religions, cultures, and faiths, all thrown together for this journey. The funniest is the character played by Amma and Appa's (Mukri) son, who will do anything to get his hands on "pakoras". Absolutely hilarious. The bus is in the "control" of driver Rajesh (Anwar Ali), and conductor, Khanna (Mehmood).

PLOT: Subeer Kumar (Amitabh) is well on his way to becoming India's top pop singer. He has no intention of getting married, but when he goes to visit his Durga Mausi (Mausi=mother's sister), he falls in love with religious, simple Uma, by whose voice he's enchanted. He marries her and returns to Bombay where he announces that he will never sing without Uma again. However, Subeer encourages Uma to sing alone and when her popularity is soon greater than his own, the seed of jealousy begins to grow... The major difference between Uma and Subeer is that she sings for herself, whereas he sings for the public. It is the difference between geet and sangeet. This is the root of the thing that later causes problems, and based on which the movie is named.

PLOT: Two convicts and small time crooks (Amitabh and Dharmendra) are picked by Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar), a former police officer, to seek vengeance on the dangerous bandit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) because he killed all of Thakur's family (except a daughter-in-law) and maimed Thakur for life. This was a result of an earlier incident in which Thakur -- acting as a police officer -- had captured Gabbar and helped in his conviction in the court. Gabbar managed to escape and wreaked havoc in Thakur's life. Now Thakur seeks the help of these two crooks to get Gabbar. The ensuing action makes for one of the most exciting Indian movies made to date. REMARKS: The box-office collection figure is inflation-adjusted US$ equivalent (the biggest blockbuster of Bollywood)
