What is it about one’s car that makes the decision so tough and the choice so difficult? There must be something to this crazed phenomenon. And this feeling runs across mankind. No matter who you are or what your gender, taste or color, you can be sure that a lot of thought goes into buying a car.
The model, the color, the brand, the style, its fuel efficiency, its utility, its status quotient, its glamour quotient, almost everything is analyzed and dissected ever so studiously.
And why is that so? Is it because the car you drive reflects your personality, your choice and your image or is it because that is one way of expressing who you are?
I strongly believe that despite the imperatives of how useful a certain vehicle will be for me, I also consider whether it says something about me.
For instance, I’m a MUV / SUV kind of person. My vehicle has to be rugged, impressive, a show-stopper! Nothing less will do because I’m an out-going, confident extrovert, who likes to make my presence felt. I can feel the adrenalin rush even when I set my eyes on a Ferrari-Aurea, a Bugatti-Veyron or a Hybrid Supercar among many such other alluring beauties. I still feel a sharp twang when I see a Mustang or a Camaro whizzing by.
But I must admit that we may be compelled to take rational and practical decisions. So, our type of work, our location, and above all, our budgets play a huge role in zeroing in on the choice. To my mind, however, there is little doubt that for most connoisseurs, their cars are their ``style statements’’. Their wheels are but extensions of their personalities.
But for the larger mass of people, cars could simply mean – basic utility, sheer necessity and just, comfort! Well, what do you think?
