It has been proven by various studies that scents and aromas affect the limbic region in our brain that controls our emotions, memory and learning. Scented candles, then, are actually worthwhile investing in as they will create the atmosphere you want to evoke.
Scented candles help combat unpleasant odor. Candles that use essence oils like citronella actually ward off insects. So be sure to use these candles when planning a romantic, outdoor picnic.
Pine or cedar candles to your favorite natural walking trail when you need to unwind within the comfort of your home in peak summer. Sandalwood scented ones can cut through the nervous tension that shrouds you and your partner on very special occasions.
Rose or any floral scented candle can whiff you away to a garden where you can walk on soft grass and loll around with nothing to do but listen to birds singing and a brook gently gurgling by. Peppermint, vanilla, nutmeg, pumpkin, cinnamon there is no holiday smell you cannot recreate with a scented candle.
If you want to, you can light candles around the room with different fragrances mixed in and they won’t clash just as the holiday smells never clashed. While taking a bath you could light a candle or many candles to surround yourself with the scent you like that may or may not be the same as the soap or bath salts you use. Lavender, or jasmine or geranium scents are very relaxing.
The candles that come in a container are best as the longer a candle burns, the more aroma it releases. So the next time your mood needs to be uplifted just light a scented candle that will literally breathe new life into you.
