Ah! The charm of blings. Are these precious or what? Exactly!

When it comes to your jewelry, the first thing to do is to separate your gold, diamond and precious jewelry from the costume jewelry. You see, they need different kinds of treatment. In any case, you may be more inclined to ensure the sparkle of your real beauties rather than the faux gems. Both need care. But we’ll start with putting them into two separate cases.

Let’s pick up the gold jewelry first. Remember – soap dulls gold. Therefore, avoid soap during the cleaning. Just soak it in a little warm water for about 15 minutes and scrub it lightly with a soft bristle toothbrush. Dry it with soft cloth.

One more thing, don’t take the gold into the pool or the beach etc. - the chlorine can discolor the metal and the salt in the sea water too can jade it.

Now, we come to your collection of faux jewels. You could soak them in a solution of cold water and a drop of household ammonia for about 30 minutes. Or, scrub them clean with a small brush covered with toothpaste. Yes! It’s considered to be effective and inexpensive.

But don’t use this on your pearls etc. It’s just for the artificial jewels. You could, alternatively, soak them in warm sudsy water and add a mild liquid detergent and keep them there for 10 minutes. After this, you bring them out, pat them dry with a soft lint-free cloth and leave them over a tissue paper to drain out all excess water.

Finally, enjoy seeing them shine and sparkle and glitter to your delight!
