Should one head to the health club to sweat it out or pump some iron at home? My spontaneous reaction to this question is – Of course get a gym room at home! If you can afford it, that is!
Who in the right mind wouldn’t want a little pump of one’s own within reaching distance, tell me? It is every health freak’s dream come true. It makes the task easier, closer at hand, and also saves on commuting time. To begin with, let’s say, you start with a stretching mat, a large Swiss ball, a pair each of 15 pound and 20 pound dumbbells, and a Resistance Band with Handles. But, going bigger than this basic bag requires a lot more moolah. And, therein lies the hitch.
It’s not easy for everyone to get this going. After all, the costs are quite high of putting together a reasonably equipped gym at home. You need the space, all the machines and your wallet will be lighter by at least a few thousand dollars.
Besides, having a gym at home may sometimes make you mentally lazy. After all, you may sit complacently in the belief that if you missed your morning workout, you would fit it in after office hours, and then one meeting could lead to another and that day’s due could be conveniently given a miss.
This is why it seems that visiting the nearby health club is the solution. You fall into a routine, you are bound to go there because you’ve paid the money, and your exercise timings are more or less fixed. You are bound to use the service.
This, in turn, brings about a certain discipline into your daily routine; you get to use a wide range of equipment, each one meant specifically to train a different muscle, and there are trainers at hand in case you have doubts or questions. They could also correct and advise you. Moreover, getting out and getting it done means you meet more people, you socialize a lot more and learn inter-personal skills, as well, if you please.
A last thought - to be honest, the key to this entire question lies in two words – self-motivation! If you are hell bent on keeping fit, you’ll find a way whether it is at home or out in a gym.
