So there is a big party at home. Several friends and / or business associates are invited. One would normally focus on the food, drinks, entertainment and other arrangements. A frequently neglected aspect of the preparations is the bathroom.
Remember it is not just enough to clean the bathroom but also do it up such that it creates a great impression on your guests. This will go a long way in making the party successful!

Tip #1. view
You may want to think about buying coordinated bathroom accessories (such as soap dish, hand lotion dispenser, trash can, paper tissue dispenser, etc.) that go with the decor. Also, make sure each of these accessories is clean. Remove all soap residue from the soap dish.
Use these accessories including hand towels only for special occasions such as parties. Place these close to the bathroom sink (possibly on a towel stand).

Also, take out potentially embarrassing sanitary and medical items from the cabinet in the bathroom designated for guests. However, make sure you keep some over-the-counter medications like anti-diarrheals and antacids in the medicine cabinets.
Make sure mirrors in the bathroom are wiped clean of shaving cream and other spots that could repulse guests. Similarly keep the wash basin and water closets spotless.

If your bathtub has a shower curtain remove it. Fill the bathtub half-full with water. Place aromatherapy floating candles in the tub and throw a few rose petals into the water as well.
Place a few scented votive and pillar candles on the tub's ledge to improve the ambience. Make sure the arrangement is tastfully done.
Make sure the candles are placed safely away from flammable material such as towels, curtains, etc. Place the candles on appropriate candleholders to insure candle wax does not drip onto the surface.
If children are also invited for the party, it is advisable that you avoid the candles.

Placing a floral arrangement or even a simple flower vase in an empty corner or space of the countertop will add to the effect. A few scented candles on the countertop can also add to the get up of the bathroom.
Tip #5. view
Play soft, low-volume music in a concealed casette or CD player in the bathroom. It may give guests a welcome, relaxing break from the sounds of the party.

During the party, check the bathroom periodically to insure it is clean with adequate supply of toilet tissue. Clean the bathroom countertops and toilet bowl if required.
