We all need to exercise but don’t get the opportunity to exercise outside regularly. So why not use our homes to keep in shape and good health?
Choose an exercise regimen that suits you. While yoga and tai chi are touted, they do not suit those impatient with slow movements and less sweat. If you are into aerobics, get started at home.
Dancing is a great cardiovascular exercise, and fun. Start with exercises that last 15 minutes or so and then build up the level at your own pace. Get a family member or a friendly neighbor involved so you can exercise together.
Sweating and exulting together will help you both exercise regularly. If you and your partner have different but complimentary regimens then see if you can follow both alternatively. This will take care of the boredom feature that sets in with one routine.
If you are rushed for time do your exercises while watching your favorite show or something so you don’t feel cheated of leisure activity. If you love reading, get audio books. Stretch exercises, sit-ups, are simple to include while you are cleaning out your fridge or your cupboards or even when toweling your back.
Use books and such as lifts, while dusting, to do a few simple resistance exercises that will build up your muscles. Make sure your posture is correct while cleaning and be aware of your activity as an exercise. Positive thinking always helps.
If you can, keep your staple kitchen ingredients at a height that you would have to use a stepstool or sit down to reach them. This will ensure that your whole family exercises. Do remember that exercise is best only if comfortable. And yes, do take the stairs; you also help combat global warming this way.
