Incessant use of computers is a recipe for some health issues. Young tech professionals take the brunt of working on a computer all day. However, seniors are more susceptible to problems arising out of immobility and using the computer for long periods. There are some fundamentals that if followed, could make working on computer a lot more pleasant and interesting.

Keyboard positioning is a vital facet of computer use. Hands should be in a neutral, flat posture, and the keyboard should be positioned at an elbow-height. You’ll be better off typing with straight hands to avoid wrist pain. Also position the mouse on a surface that’s close to you, at elbow-height or a little above. A trackball is believed to be a better option to the mouse, since it isn’t as sensitive to hand movements. Using a multi-touch pad can help you implement the zoom control more easily.

Positioning the monitor properly is also essential. It should be at the right height and distance from you. You can opt for an LCD screen to avoid flickering. A computer seniors software also is a great option for older adults. It has large, easy to read fonts, clear navigation, and good security, absolutely ideal for seniors.

Other aspects like lighting, chair and foot positioning, also play a big role in creating a computer-friendly environment. Retired adults especially need to concentrate on these details to make computer surfing stress-free.
