The first thing to remember before planning a trip to Europe is the ``planning of the trip’’. Trust me. If you really want to get maximum value for money, start organizing and planning NOW!
A Europe trip can hurt the pocket. So, find out how you can cut costs. Get the best deals on accommodation, food and sightseeing. Travel agents/ tour operators can help pack in a full trip.
For instance, one travel map could look like this - Salzburg in Austria; London, Cambridge and Stratford-upon-Avon in England; Paris in France; Munich in Germany; Dublin in Ireland; Athens in Greece; Venice, Pisa, Florence, Rome and Pompeii in Italy; Amsterdam in the Netherlands; Edinburgh in Scotland, and Interlaken in Switzerland.
Besides this, there are various discounts and deals that you could avail of if you have either of these membership cards – the American or the Canadian Automobile Association card, the International Youth Hostel Federation card, a Rail Saver pass or the VIP Backpackers Card. These get you discounts on coach fares, car rentals, currency exchange, meals, books, Internet usage, railway tickets, hotels, airline tickets and visits to tourist attractions. So, make use of them.
One more thing, plan the trip during the off-season, which is after mid-September or before mid-June. Sometimes, take the night train between locations, which could save you hotel fare for a night, and pack wisely before leaving every spot.
A backpacker should ideally need about 75 $ to 90 $ per day to make it around Europe on a pinch. So, good luck and get going!

The cheapest way to travel europe is to rent a full-size car from brussels in off-season. Brussels has cheapest car rentals. You can spend nights in the car. Some part of the trip can be planned on over-night trains. That will save the lodging costs.
