Clearly caused by a short circuit...that man seemingly didn't have the required safety gear to survive that arc blast.
The temp in there probably reached 2000 degrees F. Hot enough to not just melt, but vaporize copper. It is unlikely he survived. Even properly dressed that man would probably have sustained heavy injury anyway....are the dangers of working with electricity driven home?
