The photos that are being used to get Miss New Jersey 2007 Amy Polumbo to step down are so lame that it made me think who might be stupid enough to use them in a blackmail attempt. Here are some thoughts:
First Runner-up: The blackmailer's demand has been for Amy to step down. Interestingly the blackmailer is not interested in money. So, who stands to gain from this demand if Amy does step down? Obviously, Ronica Licciardello, the first runner-up. There is motive.
So did she have access to the photographs? Probably. But then, would she be stupid enough to try this knowing fully well that peoples' suspicions are going to be on her? I am inclined to think 'No.' And, she has of course publicly denied any involvement.
The photographer: The next question is: Who else had access to the photos used in the blackmail attempt?" The person(s) who took those snaps. It is obvious that each photo was taken at a social gathering where Amy was simply goofing off! Interestingly, though some of the pictures are such that they can be easily modified (using software like Adobe Photoshop) to show nudity.
So, was that what the photographer actually did? Regardless, it should not be difficult identifying the one person who had access to all the photos.
The Boyfriend: An interesting question that I have is about whether the boyfriend was dumped (either before Amy was crowned or after). If so, there again is access to the photos and motive for the blackmail attempt.
Finally, Amy Herself: There is a remote possibility that Amy herself might want to gain public sympathy for her Miss USA bid. But, the next Miss USA contest I believe is several months later. So, her timing is way off if she herself is behind all this. I admit this is a silly theory.
Nevertheless, this should NOT be a very difficult case for the authorities to solve. So, let us wait and watch how the story unfolds!!
