Running around in flip-flops all summer is going to result in excessive exposure to the Sun. It will make the skin on your feet resemble alligator skin. So, how do you get the skin on your feet look smooth again?
To begin with those delicate plastic foot scrubs are not going to do the job. You need to use a pumice stone to rub down the callouses on your feet. The trick is to rub your feet with the pumice stone after your shower. The shower water softens the skin, which makes it easy to rub off the hard spots on your feet with the pumice stone. Applying some moisturizing soap during the scrubbing of your feet will surely help.
Immediately after you have removed the callouses (with your pumice stone) apply some strong moisturizer on your feet including the soles. The moisturizer softens your skin. Cover your feet with cotton socks overnight. By morning your feet will be soft and smooth.
Always remember to keep your toenails painted and polished. Use of a clear or light polish for your toes is recommended. Chipped paint on your toenails will be less obvious in these subdued colors.
If you have not had the time to pedicure your feet, remember to hide your feet in closed-toe shoes. Long toenails send a "unkempt feet" message across. So, always keep nail clippers handy.
