Fashion is never constant and that is a great thing. Shops often offer discounts that can reach as high as 80% of the original cost. Even if you are away from NY, the fashion discount hub, it is no cause for despair. Every city has its share of shops that sell fashionable clothes and that means they will cut prices for dresses that don’t get taken off the shelf as soon as they expected them to.
The Internet is also a good place to be surfing for discounted designer wear. Though one cannot try out the dresses in such cases and check if the color complements, if it is a label you already know well then go ahead and get out your credit card.
Many shops that sell fashionable clothes conduct fashion shows and participate in local events like charity shows to market their products. If you have the figure and flair for a particular style then you could offer to model some of their clothes at such shows and buy the dress at a cut rate.
Check out local shops that sell second hand merchandise. Most often the fashion conscious women would have sold their slightly outdated clothes as they keep up with the current rage. The shop assistants could have useful tips on how to go about camouflaging any defects.
If you feel that designer labels are still beyond your range then look for clothes that look almost like the one you would like to buy. A slightly different material, a slight change in the cut and voila you have an affordable dress that flatters you almost as much as the original without putting you in the hock.
